Welcome to Lemmon Tree Academy for the 2023-2024 school year!
We are so excited to welcome our first ever class of first graders.
Our first grade classroom is a safe space for children of all abilities to to learn and grow while accessing the extended content standards.
We look forward to a wonderful year ahead together!

  March in LTA This month, we learned about earth materials (rocks, soil, clay, etc.) and the weather through our pretend play center and science unit. In pretend play, students dressed up as dinosaurs and paleontologists. They used kinetic sand to create dinosaur bones. They chiseled away at earth materials to find dinosaur fossils. Students used clay to create their own dinosaur bone fossils. In math, we reviewed Gus the Plus, Ellie the Equal, and met Linus the Minus. Students practiced both addition and subtraction. We used the stories Animals on Board and Ducks Away to practice addition. For subtraction, we used the book Five Speckled Frogs. In ELA we continued practicing our sight words, word families, and beginning sounds. We read stories about the seasons and the weather. For each story in ELA, we sequenced events, answered WH- questions, and completed a story map. In writing, students practiced using tools to build their own names. April Recap

 April Recap In April we learned about living and non-living things through our Flower Shop pretend play center. In math, we wrapped up adding and subtracting, and moved onto comparing numbers. In ELA we worked on retelling and sequencing details in a story as we read about how to grow healthy plants. In specials, we had our Frankie Friends make their last visit and continued on having fun visiting with Bogie the dog and making joyful noises in music class. April was great and we are excited for all the fun to come in the month of May as we wrap up this wonderful school year in LTA! Love, Katie, T, and Courtney

November Recap

 November in LTA In the month of November, we learned about how people did things in the past and how people do things in the present. In our housekeeping center, students practiced washing clothes in a washing machine like we see today, cooking food in an oven, and getting water from our pretend sink. In our rotating pretend play, students practiced getting water from the river, washing clothes in a wash bin and hanging them to dry, and cooking food over a fire. Our stories we read focused on the past and present. We practiced identifying events and details throughout stories, finding various text features, and differentiating between words and pictures. In math, we did all things shapes. Students' main focus was sorting shapes of the same size and color into groups. In social studies, we learned about goods, services, supply, and demand. Our specials this month have been a blast. We had so much fun visiting our Frankie Friends at Ravenscroft and can't wait to visit them again...
